The Choir was formed in August 1953, a few months after regular services commenced, and with only a short break has continued to the present day.
The Choir provides where possible a group to lead the singing at the 10a.m. service on most Sundays.
It sings special music on festival occasions such as Christmas, Easter, Harvest and also on significant church occasions such as the Church Anniversary, One World Week, etc.
Larger works are undertaken by joining with other local choirs ( e.g. Stainer's "Crucifixion" on Good Friday ) and the choir sometimes joins with those of other local churches for ecumenical services.
Rehearsals are held on Fridays at 7.30p.m. in the church. Hymns and songs for the following Sunday morning service are practised, together with any special music being undertaken for future occasions.
New singers are always made welcome; it is not essential to be able to read music, but it helps if you can.
Rather, it is important to want to worship God through the ministry of music, and to sing His praises.
